SUPER COOL Car Elevators @ Enterprise Car Rental [Fulton St./Cliff St.-Lower Manhattan]

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

These things are AWESOME to watch in action. They move vertically, but they also move horizontally, this way cars can be brought to and picked up from any spot in the garage. One elevator serves one side of the garage, one serves the other, and it doesn’t make sense to me to have 2 of them, as they run horizontally anyway. If you look closely, the machine rooms are on a horizontal rail and they move across the garage, along with the elevator car. I couldn’t watch them moving, as I am never lucky enough to get these on film. However, my grandma’s bedroom faces directly towards this garage, so if they’re ever in action, I will get my camera as fast as I can. New York City records consider these freight elevators.
