Ryanair , The Low Fares Airline

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

Ryanair (ISEQ: RYA, LSE: RYA, NASDAQ: RYAAY) is an Irish low cost airline with its head office at Dublin Airport, Ireland, and with primary operational bases at Dublin Airport and London Stansted Airport.

Ryanair operates almost 250 Boeing 737-800 aircraft on over 1,100 routes across Europe and Morocco from over 43 bases. The airline has been characterised by rapid expansion, a result of the deregulation of the air industry in Europe in 1997 and the success of its low cost business model. Ryanair is Europe’s largest low-cost carrier, the 3rd largest airline in Europe in terms of passenger numbers and the largest in the world in terms of international passenger numbers.

Ryanair now has a number of low-cost competitors. In 2004, approximately 60 new low-cost airlines were formed. Although traditionally a full-service airline, Aer Lingus moved to a low-fares strategy from 2002, leading to a much more intense competition with Ryanair on Irish routes.[citation needed]

Airlines which attempt to compete directly with Ryanair are treated competitively, with Ryanair being accused by some of reducing fares to significantly undercut their competitors. In response to MyTravelLite, who started to compete with Ryanair on the Birmingham to Dublin route in 2003, Ryanair set up competing flights on some of MyTravelLite’s routes until they pulled out. Go was another airline which attempted to offer services from Ryanair’s hub at Dublin to Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland. A fierce battle ensued, which ended with Go withdrawing its service from Dublin.

In September 2004, Ryanair’s biggest competitor, EasyJet, announced routes to the Republic of Ireland for the first time, beginning with the Cork to London Gatwick route. Until then, easyJet had never competed directly with Ryanair on its home ground. Easyjet announced in July 2006, that it was withdrawing its Gatwick-Cork, Gatwick-Shannon and Gatwick-Knock services; within two weeks, Ryanair also announced it would withdraw its own service on the Gatwick-Knock and Luton-Shannon routes.

Ryanair has asked the high court to investigate why it has been refused permission to fly from Knock to Dublin. This route was won by CityJet, which was unable to operate the service. The runner up, Aer Arann, was then allowed to start flights, a move Ryanair criticises on the basis that not initiating an additional tender process was unlawful.

DFDS Seaways cited competition from low-cost air services, especially Ryanair, which now flies to Glasgow Prestwick Airport and London Stansted Airport from Gothenburg City Airport, as the reason for scrapping the Newcastle-Gothenburg ferry service in October 2006. It was the only dedicated passenger ferry service between Sweden and the United Kingdom, and had been running under various operators since the 19th century.

Hartsfield-Jackson Rental Car Center Construction - 2008

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

This video features construction photographs of Hartsfield-Jackson’s CONRAC customer service center (CSC).

More than two million passengers complete rental car transactions each year at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. In order to meet current needs and anticipated demands for rental vehicles, Hartsfield-Jackson is building a state-of-the-art Consolidated Rental Car (CONRAC) facility. When it opens in November 2009 CONRAC will house all Airport rental car companies and their associated operations, including customer service, administrative offices, ready/return parking, fueling and maintenance facilities.

The 67.5 acre CONRAC facility is located across Interstate 85 from the Airport and will connect to the existing passenger terminals via an Automated People Mover (APM) train system. The APM can move more than 10,000 passengers an hour to and from the passenger terminal along the 1.6 mile long elevated guideway. The trip between the terminal and the CONRAC APM station will be approximately five minutes. A stop at the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) will provide direct passenger access to the facility during conventions and events.

By centralizing all rental car operations adjacent to the Airport, CONRAC will eliminate the need for rental agency shuttle buses and dramatically reduce the number of rental cars on terminal roadways. This should help minimize the Airports carbon footprint by improving overall traffic flow around the passenger terminal.

CONRAC is one of several projects included in Hartsfield-Jacksons Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The 10-year, currently $6-plus billion program supports the Airports overall mission by planning, designing, building and maintaining facilities to meet projected growth in domestic and international travel. CIP projects reduce flight delays, increase airfield and terminal capacity, enhance overall customer service, and substantially contribute to Georgias economic development.

Deluxe Rent A Car - 2007-08 ACRF Fraud

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Super Stock drag racing’s John Hennessay is the President of Netstar, the parent company of Johnny Park Parking and Shuttles, Deluxe Rent-A-Car and Johnny Cars and as such is overseeing an operation that uses “False Advertisement and Deceptive Trade Practices to defraud consumers.

They have been charging between 13%-27% in False ACRF, Airport, misc, and un-named additional taxes or fees.

Located near LAX in Los Angeles the reach of their fraud has affected people worldwide using the far reach of the internet and the intimate relationship with #1 internet car rental booking agency - carrentals.com . Their fraud includes forgery, auto registration fraud, false advertisment and ACRF (Airport Concession Recovery Fee) fraud.

Many internet blogs lay claims to insurance fraud, failure to return deposits, false claims of damage…. and the list goes on.

Together these companies work in conjunction with carrentals.com to advertise the unfairly low prices, subsidized by the fraudulently obtained ACRF fees, on the internet. Deluxe uses sister company “Johnny Park’s” shuttles to bypass the restriction on access to the LAX Airport. They then use Johnny Parks unregistered cars to rent to unsuspecting consumers who risk police harrassment. Offset by the low ad pricing with the illegally charged and pocketed ACRF fee. This is intentionally marketed to foreign and interstate travelers thus creating a strategic target of victims with limited recourse.

IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THEY HAVE COMMITED FRAUD, FORJURY, FALSE ADVERTISEMENT, DECEPTIVE and UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICES, INTERSTATE WIRE FRAUD

They have shown shameless disregard of the law by continuing these behaviors, renaming the charges, dispite the light being brought to the activities.

JUST LAST MONTH -
They mass e-mailed advertisement to their customers stating that due to a special agreement with the LAWA that they no longer are charging the ACRF Fee like their competition and they are passing the savings to their customers.

THIS IS A COMPLETE SHAMELESS LIE…. LAWA representatives confirm that they are exploiting a loophole to gain access to the airport grounds and have never had any agreement with the LAWA. The charging of this fee is illegal under deceptive and unfair business practices, the collection of this fee reserved only for the LAWA violates Business and Professions Codes. This also make them guilty of unfair business practices against the other companies that “MUST” pay the 10% ACRF fees.

Corporate Research indicates $3-5 million in sales this means 13-27% of this is fraudulent.
