I assume you are a teen. I'm impressed by the eloquent and composed question. You may not get gifts this holiday, but you are gifted. It might seem like a bad deal at this time, but in the long run, you are going to come out ahead. Endure a little longer. Use this experience to fuel your desire to work hard, don't play by the rules, get ahead in life, and never be poor again. You don't know it, but you have the upper hand, not your neighbor who opens the latest Call of Duty on Christmas Day. I grew up very poor and have spent a life time attacking each assignment, whether it was in school or work, as a way out. I am very happy with the way it's turned out.
References :
Honestly, you will be okay. I completely understand why you feel the way that you do, and I'm glad that you understand that this situation does suck, even though there are people much worse off than you are. You are obviously a good kid and deserve some of the things that you want.
The only advice I can give is to not be mad at your parents. They aren't fortune tellers and had no way of knowing that there would not be other offers on your old house.
As for working, most retailers are hiring for this time of year. Even the weeks/few months directly following Christmas are very busy, so keep trying to apply. Also, when you do apply, go back to the place a few days later, ask to speak with a manager, and ask to "check on the status of your application." They will be impressed with your proactive-ness. That's how I got my first job during this time of the year!
Until then, you can find a babysitting job, or something to help you earn money. As neighbors, friends, anyone you can who can help you raise money. You can also snow shovel, etc.
Focus on what you have. You can make your girlfriend something more special than money can buy, using the coins you find in your couch.
Good luck and Merry Christmas to you.
(and remember the reason for the season!)
References :
first, take a deep breath & relax.
your parents seem like they are going through a lot.
try to picture yourself in their shoes. & if you think you can do better, then help them out!
Talk to them. Tell them everything you told everyone else.
They're the only one who dont know.
How are they supposed to provide YOUR needs if they're not aware of it?
Just talk to them. Its worth it(:
References :
So I am not getting anything for Christmas.?
Here's the basic problem. I am not getting anything for christmas. I understand that my parents don't have the money. It does upset me; however I've come to terms with that. This is where it gets complicated. my parents own two houses. We moved and the old one hasn't sold yet. They had an offer but did not take it. This offer could have payed off all their debt and left them money to spend for Christmas and just to save(im talking a couple thousand dollars at least here), but now. they have to pay taxes on both houses, have no money, and are always pissed off at me.

I didn't do anything. quite frankly I should be more mad than I am.
I didn't get to go school clothes shopping.
I can't get my license because of how much it costs.
I don't get anything for christmas
I work my ass off every day in school(All honors and AP classes)
I need to get my girlfriend a christmas present.

I've applied at all the local places for teenagers to work, but its winter and most are cutting hours, not hiring.

I just need some advice on how to deal with it.

BTW I know people are worse off than me. I dont give a fuck. Humans by nature are selfish. I am selfish. And I am asking for advice on how to make situation better objectively. not subjectively. so a comparison to an impoverished inner city kid will only piss me off.

Thanks
